"Official Maps"

Hey all,
daddyman here.
Just wanted you all to know that if you want the "official" maps for fort wars, or, if you want to view the rankings, they can be found at pftq's page.
Please check it out and feel free to discuss it here.

Also, please take the time to delete any versions of the maps that you may have so that the phonies will fade away. If you go to a game and you have the official version, but your 'puter wants to download another "version" then please deny it. This will help to stop the spread of fake maps.
The map versions to delete should be found in your documents folder in a folder called My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM or My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM2 RM is AOE3 and RM2 is WC

After deleteing old versions, download the new ones from pftq and unzip them in these folders.

Daddyman1 taking over blog

Hey all, how goes it.
This is daddyman1 here and I am taking this over from a friend of mine. I didnt like some of what he was doing so I'm doing it now.
For all to know. I am no longer playing with the buggy versions of the maps. I've only got the "official versions" now from pftq.
Yes, the "other versions" are fun but get real old when you win all the time. LOL
At least this way I'll be able to climb the ladder!

Yes, I broke down and did it. I now have the expansion and LOVE it!
Fort wars is much more stable on all versions and the ottomans bug no longer works.
Look for me and lets play!

How to play fort wars

This is a general guide I put together to get ya started playing and not just dying and being "feed" for everyone else.
In fort wars you have 3 islands. A spawn island, An upgrade island and the main island with your fort on it.
The object of the game is to destroy your opponents fort. The easiest way to do this is to upgrade your units.

Basic easy upgrade - the more gold you have, the stronger your units will be. Get gold by killing opponents

More difficult upgrade - purchase upgrades from your store island.

The islands :

the smaller island in the back is your spawn island. It will generally have some type of building on it. To get units to spawn at your fort, move 1 or 2 units to this building on the little island. These units will now spawn at your fort.

the middle island is your upgrade island. it has a tower on it. you move the unit (upgrade) that you want to the tower and purchase it. john black = hp beaumont = attack horse = speed etc

North/south islands these islands are like reward islands. once you accuire certain things, (exp, kills, etc) you are given a reward. you move the unit on these islands to select your award.

on your display

The food = your kills
The wood = your experience
The gold is just gold - use it for upgrades and such.

Your fort will give you units for different purchase costs. play with them to see what they do for each civ.

hey all. Just came back from the game and found out that the ottomans tech will work in both versions of 3.0 fort wars. Working on something else to put up. Back with more soon!

They (include myself) were good when playing on the 3.0 version because of a bug that exploited the map. (sorry TV lol) We will see how we do playing on the "real" maps.
I'll update as I know more.

unbeatable ottomans

Heres a neat trick I learned for fort wars 3.0 in age of empires 3!
First, it has to be the version 3.0 that has the picture on it, not the star.
Be the ottomans
In the beginning, focus on getting to 55 kills.
I do this by trying for the middle where the llama is and then surrounding it with stretlets and grenadiers.
Once you get to 55 kills, stop spawning from your spawn island, you'll need the population room. Delete some units if needed.
In your fort, you can now buy veteran calvary archers. Do this ONE AT A TIME!
Each purchase will give you 100 gold.
Use the gold to increase your upgrades from the middle store island.
I usually get hp first followed by attack and speed but mix it up anyway you want to.
If you follow this strategy you will win 95 % of the time!
